International Institute of Veterinary Education and Research(IIVER) was established in the year 2011 under the umbrella of Jan Shakti Charitable Trust, Rohtak. The main objective of the trust is to provide help in the establishment or maintenance of educational institutes including schools and colleges which can either be for general or technical education including medicine, veterinary, commerce, agriculture, literature, philosophy, science including domestic science or arts, physical education etc. The trust shall also help in promotion, encouragement and advancement of education in art and artistic efforts in all its branches, including imparting of knowledge in art, allied or abstract music, painting, drama, dancing, photography, sculpture and of any other kind. In the first instance, IIVER was established which is situated at by-pass, National Highway 10, Bahu Akbarpur, Rohtak, 10 kms from Rohtak city. The location is ideally suited as Delhi is only 75 kms away and the area falls under National Capital Region and is the home of world renowned Murrah buffaloes also called as Black Gold. The role of livestock in rural economy has acquired a greater significance because of decreasing land holdings. For marginal farmers, livestock industry can provide an insatiable income. However, this requires well being of the livestock by means of good livestock management system and excellent animal health maintenance and monitoring. With this objective in mind, IIVER was established to produce competent veterinarians and paraveterinarians. The aim is an attempt to fulfill the gap to some extent between the demand and supply of veterinarians and paraveterinarians in order to provide several facilities to the farmers in particular and public in general in the field of animal husbandry and veterinary sciences. Our Institute is affiliated to Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Hisar and presently, we are offering BVSc&AH degree programme since 2014-15 session and the veterinary and livestock development diploma under the Institute of Para Veterinary Sciences of Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Hisar. The IIVER complex consists of modern buildings, well equipped laboratories and residential accommodation for the students and the faculty. The Veterinary Clinical Complex is also well equipped with modern and essential facilities like diagnostic laboratory, small and large animal X-ray machines, ultrasonography, physiotherapy equipments and operation theatres for both small and large animals. A large number of clinical cases are brought to the clinic thus providing sufficient teaching material for the students and well exposure to animal ailments in various species. A well managed Livestock Farm Complex is also functional which involves the students in all aspects of animal rearing. In addition, our well equipped Ambulatory Clinic provides free Veterinary services in various neighbouring villages and Gaushalas. Many free clinical camps are also organized for the prevention and eradication of animal diseases in the larger interest of animal health welfare.
